FNG Market Report: Green investments are in full swing
The results of the Market Report 2020 of the Forum for Sustainable Investments (FNG) now show how strongly sustainable investments are booming: Thus, the sustainable investment volume in Germany amounted to more than 269 billion euros at the end of 2019 – an increase of 23 percent compared to the previous year.
Private investors in particular had significantly increased their exposure last year: around 8.9 billion euros of private investors went into sustainable funds and mandates in 2019. This corresponds to a staggering 96 percent growth. One reason for the increased interest in green investments is the increased reporting on topics such as FridaysForFuture, climate change and human rights.
Institutional investors still play a major role in growth in green capital products. They represent almost 89 percent of all sustainable funds and mandates. And the outlook for green investments remains positive.
As the pacesetter of the energy and transport turnaround, Green City fully supports this development. Green City has been a member of the Forum Sustainable Investments, the trade association for sustainable investments in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, since 2018 and has supported the preparation of the FNG market report together with other committed members of the association. Green City has issued 37 sustainable investment products to date. Private and institutional investors financed wind, water and photovoltaic systems in Europe as well as sustainable mobility solutions in Germany. More information can be found here.
