Green City Concludes PPA with ALPIQ
Following its successful market entry in Spain, Green City AG has now concluded a long-term Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) for its first Spanish solar project for the output of the “El Marques” solar park.
This is the first PV system from Green City to be connected to the grid without feed-in tariffs. This is possible due to grid parity in Spain, a milestone in the promotion of renewable energy: Thanks to lower technology costs, local photovoltaic plant operators can now offer solar power at competitive prices and thus without state subsidies. With the Alpiq Energy Group, Green City has gained an experienced, leading Swiss energy service provider that is active throughout Europe.
Commissioning of the “El Marques” plant is scheduled for the beginning of next year and is expected to achieve
12.3 MWp. The solar power plant is to produce around 20 million kilowatt hours of clean electricity per year. Forecasts assume a further decline in electricity generation costs and a growing supply of electricity from renewable sources. At the same time the demand of major industrial customers in Spain for cheap and clean solar power via Power Purchase Agreements is increasing.
